More Back to School Immunization Clinics Announced
The Indianapolis Immunization Coalition and the Marion County Health Department have announced three September Back to School Immunization Clinics.
The Coalition will host two free clinics Saturday, September 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on a first come, first serve basis at:

The Marion County Health Department will host a free clinic Saturday, September 18 at the Perry Township Education Center Building Gymnasium, 6548 Orinoco Avenue, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Those attending any of the three free clinics should bring the most current shot records for their children.

High-tech Vision Screening is currently being done at the Early Learning Centers by the Lyons Club. The reports are being reviewed by Riley Hospital for Children. In addition to the previously required immunizations:
Students entering preschool or kindergarten must now have TWO appropriately documented Varicella Vaccines, separated by at least 3 months, or physician documentation of disease history, or laboratory evidence of immunity.
Students entering grades 6 – 12 must have appropriate documentation of the following vaccinations: Tetanus, diphtheria, acellular pertussis vaccine (Tdap), Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine (MCV4 – Menactra), TWO Varicella Vaccinations appropriately spaced per CDC guidelines, or documentation of disease history, or laboratory evidence of immunity.
INFORMACIÓN IMPORTANTE PARA LOS PADRES SOBRE LOS CAMBIOS DE LAS INMUNIZACIONES/VACUNAS PARA EL 2010-2011
Además de las vacunas previamente requeridas; los estudiantes necesitarán:
Para Preescolar o Kindergarten, deberán de tener DOS vacunas contra la varicela, adecuadamente documentadas en su cartilla de vacunación, estas dos vacunas deberán de haberse recibido separadamente en un lapso de 3 meses, o deberán de presentar documentación donde el médico estipula que el estudiante padeció de la enfermedad, o pruebas de laboratorio de que el estudiante esta inmune a esta enfermedad. Los estudiantes que van a entrar del sexto al doceavo grado, deberán de tener documentación apropiada de las siguientes vacunas: tétanos, difteria, tos ferina acelular vacuna (Tdap), vacunas de conjugado meningocócica (MCV4 – Menactra), dos vacunas contra la varicela, espaciadas adecuadamente, según lo especifica el Centro de Control de Enfermedades (siglas en inglés: CDC), o documentación médica donde se estipule que el estudiante padeció esta enfermedad, o pruebas de laboratorio de que esta inmune a esta enfermedad.
