INSTRUMENT
The list of stores below carry a variety of different instruments and come highly recommended!

  • Paige's Music 842-2102
  • Frank's Violins 251-5950
  • Baroque Violin Shop 1-866-VIOLIN9

Please beware of the SISO or the Stringed Instrument Shaped Object!  There will always be someone out there ready to take your money!  Below you will find a list of "no-no's" and things to watch out for when renting an instrument!

  • Do not purchase an instrument outright!  Your child may not be ready for a full sized instrument OR your child may decide not to continue at some point leaving you with the responsibility of getting your money back out of it.
  • Do not purchase instruments from the internet!  If you can't see it, touch it, hear it, and talk to someone about it prior to purchase then you really don't know what you are getting!
  • Do not purchase an instrument that has not be "set up".  If the instrument is missing parts, strings or if the retailer says "Your teacher can set this up for you" then just say "No".  I am not a setterupper.  Although I can help with some maintenance issues, I am not comfortable setting up an instrument from scratch.  There are now large retail stores getting into the musical instrument bussiness.  Rather than package the instruments with care they ship them in all sorts of pieces and parts separately for "me" to put together.  These instruments will be low quality.
  • IF IN THE END YOU CANNOT FIND AN APPROPRIATE, AFFORDABLE INSTRUMENT, DO NOT GIVE UP.  IF YOU HAVE TRULY LOOKED AND ATTEMPTED TO WORK WITH ONE OF THE ABOVE LISTED STORES TO GET AN INSTRUMENT TO MEET YOUR BUDGET BUT HAVE COME UP EMPTY HANDED THEN GIVE ME A CALL.  I WILL DO EVERYTHING I CAN TO HELP YOU OUT!!!  We do have a FEW school owned instruments available but they are first come, first serve, and there will be a nominal fee per semester charged.
