Bio
Paul Addison Young is a native of Indianapolis where he began cello lessons at the age of seven. Active as an orchestra and chamber musician, he performs frequently with Orkestra Projekt and Camerata Orchestra of Bloomington, and is currently a member of the Owensboro Symphony Orchestra. As an educator, Paul has co-founded the Porterville Intensive String Workshop, and recently joined both the Indianapolis Academy of Music and the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra as a cello instructor. Paul's unique style of teaching is a conglomeration of many methodical approaches which allow him to focus on the idea of flexible teaching. He has studied cello pedagogy with Dr. Helga Winold, and his primary instructors have been Vladimir Zukerman and Emilio Colon, with whom he currently studies. Paul holds a Bachelor of Music degree in cello performance from Indiana University, and is proud to be a member of the American String Teachers Association and the American Federation of Musicians, Local No. 3. In his free time Paul enjoys exploring the culinary arts and creative writing.
