Policies and Procedures

Coming to the Media Center

The library media center is open from 7:15 a.m.—2:45 p.m. each school day.  Students may come to the library media center with a signed and dated pass from their classroom teacher.  Passes should be left at the check-out desk upon arrival.  Students may also stop in the library media center between classes if time permits.

Individual students may be turned away if a scheduled class is occupying the library media center for that class period.  Students will also be sent back to class for inappropriate behavior.

Check-out

A student may check out up to three items at a time.  This includes books, back-issue magazines, and audiobooks.  Only one magazine or audiobook may be borrowed at a time.

Books, magazines, and audiobooks may be borrowed for up to three weeks and may be renewed.  Reference materials and current-issue magazines may not be checked out.

Overdue fines are charged.  The fine is five cents per item for each school day it is late.  Overdue fines are not charged for weekends, holidays, or vacation days.  Lost or destroyed items will be paid for by the student who borrowed them.  Students with excessive fines or lost materials will not be able to check out until those fines are paid.  Overdue notices are sent out periodically through the language arts classes.

Computer Usage
When using computers in the library media center, students must follow the school district’s Acceptable Use Policy.  Internet usage not related to school work is not permitted.  A student may lose computer access if he/she does not follow these guidelines.
