Course Management & Grading
SPRING SEMESTER GRADES
DUE DATE

Spring Semester course grades should be posted in OneStart between May 4-10
Since we are ending our courses on or around May 4th, this timeline should not be a problem.

Be sure to add the MSDLT Reflection Sheet to your course!!! (Scroll to the bottom of the page for a link to the form tool.)

GRADING SCALE
Most students should expect grades ranging between C+ & B. Students should recognize than effort alone does not necessarily guarantee "above average" grades, since grades are assignmed on the basis of the overall quality of a student's work.
For PASS/FAIL courses....Students must receive a 75% or above to PASS the course.

Assessment Checklist
To help both the course instructor & participant understand the assessment process, developing a checklist, such as the one below, would give people a quick overview as well as help remind them of upcoming work. On it, assignments could be divided by module. Each assignment could be listed by title, format, and topic being addressed. The final column could be blank, but would be available to insert 'total points earned'.
You may use another way to manage your class information. This is just one possibility that has worked in past courses! (If this WERE to be used by the facilitator, it would be best to build it in an Excel document.)

Discussion Board Rubric
The DISCUSSION BOARD is a significant part of many online courses. While discussion, whether online or face-to-face can be informal, there are characteristics that distinguish exemplary contributions to discussion from those of lesser quality.

The criteria found in the rubric will be used to assess the quality of:

responses to the postings of the facilitator and

comments made to class members in the discussion board.
This assessment tool can be used "as is", not used at all, or adapted to your particular needs.

MSDLT Rubrics
As MSDLT implement the Digital Literacy Age Initiative, energy went into:
.....working with administrators and teachers to understand 21st century skills,
.....changing the face of instruction to support them,
.....and developing rubrics to assess them.
Here are the rubrics! The online rubric maker enables MSDLT teachers to extract the specific skills being explicitely taught & assessed and place them in a rubric.
